The next 5 pictures show 1 example of what can be done. We surgically removed the fake brick firebox shown above without disturbing the beautiful cabinetry.

We then installed a direct vent gas fireplace with the vent running directly out the back wall, ran a gas line to the fireplace, and framed the box in place.

Next we will finish it off with any material you choose such as brick, stone, tile granite, etc.
